J.B. Hunt Transport Services (JBHT) Fourth-Quarter Results Top Market Estimates

J.B. Hunt Transport Services (JBHT) published its fourth-quarter and 2021 results for the quarter and year ending on December 31, 2021. Fourth-quarter earnings and revenue both topped market estimates. JBHT stock gained 1.81% pre-market this morning.

Fourth-Quarter Results

J.B. Hunt, headquartered in Arkansas, reported a diluted EPS of $2.28 on $242.2 million in profit for the quarter, beating estimates of around $1.99 per share. Revenue came in at $3.5 billion, ahead of estimates of around $3.29 billion.

Full-Year 2021 Results

Revenue was $12.17 billion for 2021, which is a 26% jump from the year prior. Full-year 2021 EPS clocked in at $7.14, which is a 51% year-over-year.

CEO Comments: Investing in Human Capital

In an earnings call, CEO John Roberts spoke about investing more in people (competitive compensation), technologies and fleet expansion in 2022. “Our team leaders have unilaterally approved comprehensive changes to our base wages, incentive compensation, and benefits,” Roberts said. “Increasing our awareness for how we approach tracking and retaining the best talent is critical to our mission of creating the most efficient transportation network in North America.”
