First Look

Stocks are pointed lower and bond yields are rising Tuesday morning. Traders appear to be reckoning with the likelihood that the Federal Reserve is more likely to lower rates twice than three times over the balance of 2024. The S&P is down 0.4%, the Nasdaq is down 0.52%, and the Dow Jones is down 0.55%.

International Markets

Stocks in Asia are mixed. The Shanghai SE Composite Index is up 1.19%, the Hang Seng is up 0.91%, the Mumbai Sensex (S&P BSE SENSEX) is up 0.49%, the Nikkei 225 is up 0.09%, and the Australia ASX All Ordinaries is down 0.11%. In Europe, stocks are mixed. The FTSE 100 is up 0.22%, the Euro Stox 50 is up 0.13%, the DAX is down 0.07%, and the CAC 40 is down 0.14%.

Futures & Currencies

Energy futures are mixed today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is up $1.06 at $85.23 per barrel. Brent crude is down $0.8 at $88.87 per barrel. Natural Gas is down $0.03 at $1.81. Precious metals are up this morning. Gold is up $7.12 at $2258 per ounce. Platinum is up $15.5 at $916, while silver is up $0.33 at $25.44. The dollar is mixed compared to the major currencies today. The greenback is flat against the euro, up against the Yen, and down against the Pound. Bitcoin is down 0.67% to $65,570.54, while Ethereum is down 0.69% to $3,306.39.

Put/Call Ratio

Yesterday, 3,372,735 call contracts traded on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) compared to 3,169,628 put contracts. The single-session put/call ratio was 0.94.
