First Look
Markets are mixed before the bell Friday morning. The Nasdaq is down 0.5%, while the S&P 500 and the Dow are hovering around breakeven. Amazon.com (AMZN) is down 6.2% in the pre-market after the company's earnings per share expectations fourth-quarter guidance fell short of expectations. Anheuser-Busch (BUD) is down 8.1% and First Solar (FSLR) is lower by 3.8% after both companies' earnings missed analysts' estimates on the top and bottom lines. Intel Corp (INTC) is higher by 3.3%, with the chipmaker beating EPS and revenue expectations, while also issuing Q4 guidance above the consensus. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called Thursday for an early election after being forced to request a Brexit extension from the European Union. Meanwhile the EU says it wants additional clarity from the UK on its Brexit plans before allowing another extension. The Nasdaq is up 0.09%, the S&P 500 is up 0.04%, the Dow Jones is down -0.07%.

Charter Communications Inc (CHTR), Intel Corporation (INTC) and NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA) are moving higher this morning, while Albemarle Corporation (ALB), Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN) and Weyerhaeuser Co (WY) are headed lower. Intel Corporation (INTC), Scotts Miracle-Gro Co (SMG) and Dicks Sporting Goods Inc (DKS) were upgraded by analysts this morning, while Vocera Communications Inc (VCRA), Kinder Morgan Inc (KMI) and Booking Holdings Inc (BKNG) were downgraded.

The Australia ASX All Ordinaries is up 0.65%, the Shanghai SE Composite Index is up 0.48%, the Nikkei 225 is up 0.22% the Mumbai Sensex is up 0.09% and the Hang Seng is down -0.45%. In Europe stocks are mixed. The CAC 40 is up 0.13%, the DAX is down -0.15%, the Euro Stoxx 50 is down -0.27% and the FTSE 100 is down -0.51%.

Energy futures are down today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is down -0.15 at 56.08 per barrel. Brent crude is down -0.15 at 61.52 per barrel. Natural Gas is down -0.01 at 2.3. Precious metals are up this morning. Gold is up 6.9 at 1511.6 per ounce. Platinum is up 7.79 at 930.79 while silver is up 0.35 at 18.15. The dollar is mixed compared to the major currencies today. The greenback is down against the euro, down against the Yen and up against the Pound.
