Tech and Cyclical Stocks Lead Highs Friday as Markets Edge Lower

During trading Friday, 63 stocks traded to a 52-week high, while 25 stocks bottomed out at new 52-week lows. The S&P 500 is down 0.83% so far today while the Dow is down 0.54%, the Nasdaq is down 0.94%, and the Russell 2000 is up 0.02%.

Markets are falling Friday later in trading as casino stocks continue to fall amid tightening restrictions in Macau. Manchester United (MANU) stock is inching higher today despite the club missing on earnings and revenue estimates. Additionally, stocks in the United Kingdom are underperforming as retail sales fell for the fourth straight month.

Technology stocks dominated our list of highs today with 16 out of the 63 total stocks that reached their high coming from the Technology sector. The Technology sector is underperforming the market, decreasing 1.49% so far on the day. Over the last month the Technology sector has outperformed the market, increasing 1.8% while the S&P increased 0.13%.

The Consumer Cyclical sector is outperforming the market today, decreasing 0.26% so far on the day. Over the last month the Consumer Cyclical sector has outperformed the market, increasing 2.12% while the S&P increased 0.13%.
