U.S. stocks head up to begin week

 

U.S. stocks are higher today after confidence was lifted by Friday’s solid jobs report. The S&P 500 is up 0.17% and the Dow is up 0.07%.

Asian stocks finished mixed Monday with oil prices continuing lower. The Shanghai Composite was up 0.34%, and the Hang Seng was down 0.15%.

In Europe, markets are on the rise today after falling last week. The FTSE is up 0.45%, while the DAX is up 2.14%.   

Energy futures are down today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is down $0.87 to $39.10 per barrel, while natural gas is down $0.05 to $2.13. Metals prices are down this morning. Gold is down $2.40 to $1,081.70 per ounce and platinum is down $5.90 to $874.70 an ounce. The Dollar is up versus the Euro and the Yen.

Arrowhead Research Corp. (ARWR), Las Vegas Sands Corp.(LVS), and TerraForm Power, Inc.  (TERP) are early risers, while bluebird bio, Inc.(BLUE), Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (CMG) and SeaDrill Limited  (SDRL) are down. [InvestorsKeyhole, news and data sources]
