What is going on with HQGE?
HQ Global Education (HQGE) stock skyrocketed today after the company announced that its subsidiary, Big M Entertainment Pictures, had released multiple collections of digital art on non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace OpenSea.io. Shares of HQGE jumped over 40% to $0.0101 a share as of Wednesday at 2:52pm.
What does this mean for HQ Global Education?
A non-fungible token is a unit of data stored on a blockchain, also known as a digital ledger, which can represent a unique digital item like art. OpenSea.io is the first and largest NFT marketplace, meaning that HGQE's NFT reach will be significantly expanded. The collection also increases brand awareness for HGQE's subsidiary Big M Entertainment.
Marvin Williams, CEO of BMEP and President of HQGE, stated, "The potential to promote or encapsulate various BMEP brands in different stages of production already provides a great opportunity, and that merely scratches the surface. NFT and the underlying components of blockchain technology, which allows artists or content owners to uniquely identify, auction or sell particular creations while maintaining creative rights within a trackable but decentralized peer-to-peer space, opens up yet another domain, one with extreme and uncharted potential.”
So far BMEP has released three collections on OpenSea totaling 25 distinct pieces.
