Wall Street Sinks Midday But Dow, S&P Heading for Third Straight Monthly Gains

US stocks widened early losses in midday trading on Friday but two key indexes are heading for their third straight monthly gains as the rebounding US economy picked up steam, keeping the bond markets choppy on inflation concerns.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 215.87 points, or 0.63%, to 33,844.49. The S&P 500 dipped 24.72 points, or 0.59% to 4,186.75, and the Nasdaq Composite fell 59.81 points, or 0.42%, to 14,022.74.
