US stocks were on course to start the week higher, with the Dow up by nearly 600 points from last week's decline driven by a hawkish turn by the Federal Reserve.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 1.7% to 33,857.45, the S&P 500 rose 1.3% to 4,221.63 and the Nasdaq Composite was 0.7% higher at 14,126.86. All sectors were in the green, led by energy and financials, with technology and consumer discretionary logged the smallest gains.
