TSX Turns Positive in Afternoon Trade, Now up 170 Points as Commodities Lead Gains

The TSX is now up 170 points with energy (+2.6%) and miners (+2.2%) posting the biggest gains. Healthcare is still in the red, down 1.22%.

Media reports say that US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin plans to restart negotiations on further government aid targeting pandemic relief.

Meanwhile, Reuters reports that the Canadian Federal govt also formally proposed creating three new benefits to help people cope with the coronavirus fallout, in a bid to help the Liberals win a confidence vote and avoid an election.
