Stocks End Higher as Markets Hopeful on Positive Vaccine Development, Presidency Transition to Biden; Dow Hits All-Time High

US stocks closed higher Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average surpassing the 30,000 mark for first time ever, as investors dust off any remaining election uncertainty and continue their optimism on COVID-19 vaccine development.

The Dow rose by 1.5% to 30,046.24 and the S&P 500 gained 1.6% to 3,635.43, while the Nasdaq Composite Index was higher by 1.3% to 12,036.79. Energy and financials were the biggest gainers, with all sectors except real estate in the green.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures surged by 4.3% to $44.91.
