Financial stocks added to Wednesday gains in afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index rising 0.8% while the SPDR Financial Select Sector ETF (XLF) was ahead 1.1%.
The Philadelphia Housing Index was climbing 0.7% and the SPDR Real Estate Select Sector ETF (XLRE) was up 0.6%.
In company news, Hut 8 Mining (HUT) fell almost 16% after the cryptocurrency company priced a $150 million public offering of 17.55 million shares at $8.55 apiece.
Greenidge Generation Holdings (GREE) dropped almost 25% after Wednesday saying it ordered 10,000 S19j Pro bitcoin miners from Bitmain for its new facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The new miners are scheduled for delivery during Q2 and Q3 in 2022 and will boost Greenidge's mining capacity by 1 exahash per second.
Among advancers, BRP Group (BRP) rose nearly 12% after the insurance company late Tuesday priced a $ million public offering of 8 million class A common shares at $30.50 apiece, with plans to use the net proceeds to fund its recent acquisitions.
GreenSky (GSKY) surged nearly 54% after the point-of-sale financing company agreed to a $2.24 billion buyout offer from Goldman Sachs (GS), which will swap 0.03 of a share for each GreenSky share, indicating a $12.11 per share purchase price, or nearly 56% above its last closing price. Goldman shares were down 0.3%.
