Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Decline Premarket Monday

Consumer stocks were declining premarket Monday. The Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) was down more than 1% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) was marginally lower recently.

Carnival (CCL) (CUK) said its cruise ship Carnival Glory is set to depart from the port of New Orleans Monday afternoon on a seven-day cruise, marking the cruise operator's first sailing from the city since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, which triggered an industry-wide pause in operations. Carnival shares were 3% lower in recent trading.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber (GT) said its subsidiary, Goodyear Europe BV, has launched a private offering of 300 million euros ($351.4 million) in aggregate principal amount of senior notes due 2028. Goodyear Tire & Rubber shares were shedding nearly 3% recently.

Li Auto (LI) shares were down more than 5% after saying it now expects vehicle deliveries to be about 24,500 in Q3, down from the previous estimate of 25,000 to 26,000 units due to a "slower-than-expected" recovery in chip supply.
