American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 0.3% higher at 1,062.58 on the S&P/BNY Mellon Europe Select ADR Index on Tuesday.
In continental Europe, the gainers were led by banks Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) and Banco Santander (SAN), which rose 3.2% and 2.1% respectively. They were followed by oil and gas company TOTAL (TOT) and petroleum company Equinor (EQNR), which were up 2.1% and 1.6%.
The decliners in continental Europe were led by 3D printer manufacturers Materialise (MTLS) and voxeljet AG (VJET), which fell 8.9% and 10.8% respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Forward Pharma(FWP) and biopharmaceutical company Cellectis (CLLS), which lost 9% and 7.4%.
In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by bank Barclays PLC (BCS) and educational publisher Pearson (PSO), which rose 4.7% and 3.3% respectively. They were followed by Lloyds Banking Group (LYG) and communications company WPP (WPP), which increased 3.1% and 1.6%.
The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies Akari Therapeutics (AKTX) and Bicycle Therapeutics plc (BCYC), which fell 12% and 3.9% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical firm NuCana plc (NCNA), and medical device maker EDAP TMS (EDAP), which were down 3.1% and 5.7% respectively.
