American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 1.83% lower at 1,114.26 on the S&P/BNY Mellon Europe Select ADR Index on Monday.
In continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies ERYTECH Pharma (ERYP) and Biofrontera (BFRA), which climbed 9.3% and 1.9%, respectively. They were followed by consumer goods company Unilever (UL) and biopharmaceutical company Grifols (GRFS), which were up 1.2% and 0.7%.
The decliners in continental Europe were led by shipping company Navios Maritime Partners (NMM) and biometrics company IDEX Biometrics (IDBA), which fell 9% and 7.8%, respectively. They were followed by dating app owner Spark Networks (LOV) and 3D printer company Materialise (MTLS), which were down 7.6% and 7%.
In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company MorphoSys (MOR) and pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca (AZN), which rose 4.5% and 4.1%, respectively. They were followed by medical device maker EDAP TMS (EDAP) and mining company Barrick Gold (GOLD), which were up 1.5% and 0.3%.
The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by insurance firm Prudential (PUK) and bank holding company Lloyds Banking Group (LYG), which lost 8.5% and 4.7%, respectively. They were followed by bank holding company Barclays (BCS) and biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group (MREO), which fell 4.1% and 3.4%.
