European ADRs Move Lower in Friday Trading

American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 0.85% lower at 1,033.97 on the S&P/BNY Mellon Europe Select ADR Index on Friday.

In continental Europe, the gainers were led biopharmaceutical company argenx (ARGX) and biotech firm Forward Pharma (FWP), which rose 1.9% and 1.6% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk (NVO) and biopharmaceutical company Grifols (GRFS), which were up 1.2% and 0.5%.

The decliners in continental Europe were led by 3D printer company voxeljet AG (VJET) and hotel booking site trivago (TRVG), which fell 5.7% and 5.3% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Cellectis (CLLS) and financial services company Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), which lost 4.5% and 4.4%.

In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company Bicycle Therapeutics (BCYC), which rose 1%, followed by pharmaceutical companies AstraZeneca (AZN) and GSK (GSK), which were up 0.7% and 0.2% respectively.

The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by cruise line operator Carnival Corporation (CUK) and biopharmaceutical company Verona Pharma (VRNA), which dropped 6.3% and 5.5% respectively. They were followed by financial services companies Lloyds Banking Group (LYG) and Barclays (BCS), which were down 3.3% and 2.7%.
