Stocks Unsettled Wednesday Morning

First Look

Futures on major U.S. equity indices have traded on either side of the break-even mark overnight as markets reamin unsettled after a severe two-day sell off. New cases of covid-19 continue to emerge outside of China, while the CDC is warning of disruptions to the daily lives of Americans. The S&P 500 is down -0.02%, the Dow Jones is down -0.13%, the Nasdaq is down -0.4%.

Stocks on the Move

TechnipFMC PLC (FTI), Gilead Sciences, Inc. (GILD) and Comcast Corporation (CMCSA) are moving higher this morning, while Prologis Inc (PLD), HollyFrontier Corp (HFC) and Msci Inc (MSCI) are headed lower. Domino's Pizza, Inc. (DPZ), Tenet Healthcare Corp (THC) and Intercept Pharmaceuticals Inc (ICPT) were upgraded by analysts this morning, while SmileDirectClub Inc (SDC), Nike Inc (NKE) and KB Home (KBH) were downgraded.

International Markets

Stocks in Asia are down. The Australia ASX All Ordinaries is down -2.35%, the Mumbai Sensex is down -0.97%, the Shanghai SE Composite Index is down -0.83% the Nikkei 225 is down -0.79% and the Hang Seng is down -0.69%.Stocks in Europe are down. The DAX is down -0.56%, the Euro Stoxx 50 is down -0.5%, the FTSE 100 is down -0.44% and the CAC 40 is down -0.39%.

Futures & Currencies

Energy futures are mixed today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is down -0.83 at 49.07 per barrel. Brent crude is down -1.12 at 53.83 per barrel. Natural Gas is up 0.01 at 1.85. Precious metals are mixed this morning. Gold is up 7.38 at 1642.52 per ounce. Platinum is down -4.09 at 923.63 while silver is down -0.23 at 18.04. The dollar is up compared to the major currencies today. The greenback is up against the euro, up against the Yen and up against the Pound.

Put/Call Ratio

Yesterday, 1,267,798 call contracts traded on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) compared to 1,015,397 put contracts. The single-session put/call was 0.8.
