Stocks Slip Friday Morning

First Look

Major U.S. equity indices are pointed lower ahead of Friday's opening bell. The World Health Organization declared the Wuhan coronavirus a global emergency Thursday as the number of cases inside and outside of China continue to rise. The Dow Jones is down -0.34%, the Nasdaq is down -0.36%, the S&P 500 is down -0.4%.

Stocks on the Move

Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN), Western Digital Corp (WDC) and Colgate-Palmolive Company (CL) are moving higher this morning, while Loews Corporation (L), Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc. (BR) and Honeywell International Inc. (HON) are headed lower. Western Digital Corp (WDC), Tractor Supply Company (TSCO) and Paypal Holdings Inc (PYPL) were upgraded by analysts this morning, while World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (WWE), O'Reilly Automotive Inc (ORLY) and Nucor Corporation (NUE) were downgraded.

International Markets

Stocks in Asia are mixed. The Nikkei 225 is up 0.99%, the Australia ASX All Ordinaries is up 0.18%, the Shanghai SE Composite Index is flat 0% the Mumbai Sensex is down -0.47% and the Hang Seng is down -0.52%. Stocks in Europe are down. The FTSE 100 is down -0.72%, the CAC 40 is down -0.43%, the Euro Stoxx 50 is down -0.39% and the DAX is down -0.35%.

Futures & Currencies

Energy futures are mixed today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is up 0.17 at 52.31 per barrel. Brent crude is up 0.23 at 58.52 per barrel. Natural Gas is flat 0 at 1.83. Precious metals are mixed this morning. Gold is up 7.16 at 1581.44 per ounce. Platinum is down -9.5 at 969.96 while silver is down -0.15 at 17.84. The dollar is down compared to the major currencies today. The greenback is down against the euro, down against the Yen and down against the Pound.

Put/Call Ratio

Yesterday, 1,303,357 call contracts traded on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) compared to 792,135 put contracts. The single-session put/call was 0.61.
