First Look

Major equity indices in the U.S. are trading below the break-even market Thursday morning after giving back overnight gains. Central banks in the E.U. and Switzerland both held monetary policy steady. President Trump is scheduled to meet with his trade team today as a Dec. 15 deadline for imposing new tariffs on China is getting closer. The Nasdaq is up 0.04%, the S&P 500 is up 0.02%, the Dow Jones is down -0.04%.

Stocks on the Move

General Electric Company (GE), Delta Air Lines, Inc. (DAL) and Starbucks Corporation (SBUX) are moving higher this morning, while Macy's Inc (M), Autodesk, Inc. (ADSK) and Williams Companies Inc (WMB) are headed lower. General Electric Company (GE), Kroger Co (KR) and Starbucks Corporation (SBUX) were upgraded by analysts this morning, while Allegion PLC (ALLE), Autodesk, Inc. (ADSK) and Childrens Place Inc (PLCE) were downgraded.

International Markets

Stocks in Asia are mixed. The Hang Seng is up 1.31%, the Mumbai Sensex is up 0.42%, the Nikkei 225 is up 0.14% the Shanghai SE Composite Index is down -0.3% and the Australia ASX All Ordinaries is down -0.62%. In Europe stocks are mixed. The FTSE 100 is up 0.51%, the DAX is up 0.06%, the CAC 40 is up 0.01% and the Euro Stoxx 50 is flat 0%.

Futures & Currencies

Energy futures are up today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is up 0.29 at 59.05 per barrel. Brent crude is up 0.45 at 64.14 per barrel. Natural Gas is up 0.04 at 2.28. Precious metals are up this morning. Gold is up 0.49 at 1475.37 per ounce. Platinum is up 3.24 at 943.18 while silver is up 0.08 at 16.93. The dollar is mixed compared to the major currencies today. The greenback is down against the euro, up against the Yen and up against the Pound.

Put/Call Ratio

Yesterday, 1,253,768 call contracts traded on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) compared to 1,107,341 put contracts. The single-session put/call was 0.88 while the 20-day moving average is now at 0.67.
