Stocks Point Lower After Apple Revenue Warning

Major U.S. equity indices are lower ahead of Tuesday's opening bell. Apple (AAPL) said yesterday that would not be able to hit its revenue guidance for the current quarter due to the covid-19 virus. The S&P 500 is down -0.47%, the Dow Jones is down -0.59%, the Nasdaq is down -0.69%.

Stocks on the Move

Franklin Resources, Inc. (BEN), Kroger Co (KR) and Biogen Inc (BIIB) are moving higher this morning, while Conagra Brands Inc (CAG), TechnipFMC PLC (FTI) and Lam Research Corporation (LRCX) are headed lower. Infosys Ltd ADR (INFY), World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (WWE) and Eaton Corporation PLC (ETN) were upgraded by analysts this morning, while Centurylink Inc (CTL), Seattle Genetics, Inc. (SGEN) and Emerson Electric Co. (EMR) were downgraded.

International Markets

Stocks in Asia are mixed. The Shanghai SE Composite Index is up 0.05%, the Australia ASX All Ordinaries is down -0.18%, the Mumbai Sensex is down -0.39% the Nikkei 225 is down -1.4% and the Hang Seng is down -1.47%. Stocks in Europe are down. The FTSE 100 is down -0.9%, the DAX is down -0.77%, the CAC 40 is down -0.48% and the Euro Stoxx 50 is down -0.45%.

Futures & Currencies

Energy futures are mixed today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is down -1.11 at 50.94 per barrel. Brent crude is down -1.32 at 56.35 per barrel. Natural Gas is up 0.112 at 1.95. Precious metals are up this morning. Gold is up 6.25 at 1587.38 per ounce. Platinum is up 9.94 at 980.49 while silver is up 0.12 at 17.85. The dollar is mixed compared to the major currencies today. The greenback is up against the euro, down against the Yen and down against the Pound.

Put/Call Ratio

Yesterday, 1,471,433 call contracts traded on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) compared to 850,778 put contracts. The single-session put/call was 0.58.
