Markets Waiver After G-7 Conference Call

First Look

Futures on the major U.S. equity indices are mixed ahead of the opening bell Tuesday. The announcement yesterday of a conference call between officials from the G-7 sparked a rally that extended around the world. The statement released after the 7:00 a.m. ET call said officials are, "ready to take actions, including fiscal measures where appropriate, to aid in the response to the virus and support the economy," but offered no concrete actions. The Nasdaq is up 0.08%, the Dow Jones is down -0.15%, the S&P 500 is down -0.29%.

Stocks on the Move

Delta Air Lines, Inc. (DAL), Kohl's Corporation (KSS) and Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (TMO) are moving higher this morning, while AutoZone, Inc. (AZO), TechnipFMC PLC (FTI) and Healthpeak Properties Inc (PEAK) are headed lower. Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD), ALLETE Inc (ALE) and ArcBest Corp (ARCB) were upgraded by analysts this morning, while Anheuser Busch Inbev NV (BUD), Barclays PLC (BCS) and BHP Group Ltd (BHP) were downgraded.

International Markets

Stocks in Asia are up. The Mumbai Sensex is up 1.26%, the Nikkei 225 is up 1.22%, the Australia ASX All Ordinaries is up 0.78% the Shanghai SE Composite Index is up 0.74% and the Hang Seng is up 0.22%. In Europe stocks are up. The DAX is up 1.87%, the FTSE 100 is up 1.6%, the Euro Stoxx 50 is up 1.45% and the CAC 40 is up 1.32%.

Futures & Currencies

Energy futures are up today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is up 0.97 at 47.72 per barrel. Brent crude is up 0.94 at 52.84 per barrel. Natural Gas is up 0.03 at 1.79. Precious metals are up this morning. Gold is up 12.12 at 1601.56 per ounce. Platinum is up 2.74 at 866.25 while silver is up 0.08 at 16.82. The dollar is mixed compared to the major currencies today. The greenback is up against the euro, down against the Yen and down against the Pound.

Put/Call Ratio

Yesterday, 1,061,901 call contracts traded on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) compared to 806,526 put contracts. The single-session put/call was 0.76.
