Markets Tick Higher Friday Morning

First Look

Stocks are a few ticks above the break-even mark Friday morning after three consecutive losing days. German manufacturing data came in better than expected, although data about the services sector in Europe was weak. The Nasdaq is up 0.26%, the S&P 500 is up 0.18%, the S&P 500 is up 0.18%.

Stocks on the Move

Nordstrom, Inc. (JWN), Gap Inc (GPS) and E*TRADE Financial Corp (ETFC) are moving higher this morning, while J M Smucker Co (SJM), Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp (CTSH) and Tyson Foods, Inc. (TSN) are headed lower. Uber Technologies Inc (UBER), L Brands Inc (LB) and Duke Energy Corp (DUK) were upgraded by analysts this morning, while Zoom Video Communications Inc (ZM), Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp (CTSH) and Universal Display Corporation (OLED) were downgraded.

International Markets

Stocks in Asia are mixed. The Australia ASX All Ordinaries is up 0.57%, the Hang Seng is up 0.48%, the Nikkei 225 is up 0.32% the Mumbai Sensex is down -0.53% and the Shanghai SE Composite Index is down -0.63%. In Europe stocks are up. The FTSE 100 is up 1.39%, the CAC 40 is up 0.35%, the Euro Stoxx 50 is up 0.32% and the DAX is up 0.22%.

Futures & Currencies

Energy futures are mixed today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is down -0.13 at 58.45 per barrel. Brent crude is flat 0 at 63.97 per barrel. Natural Gas is up 0.01 at 2.58. Precious metals are mixed this morning. Gold is up 4.74 at 1469.15 per ounce. Platinum is down -6.21 at 909.2 while silver is up 0.07 at 17.29. The dollar is mixed compared to the major currencies today. The greenback is up against the euro, down against the Yen and up against the Pound.

Put/Call Ratio

Yesterday, 1,263,156 call contracts traded on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) compared to 1,100,659 put contracts. The single-session put/call was 0.87 while the 20-day moving average is now at 0.67.
