According to the Wall Street Journal, China's top trade negotiator, Vice Premier Lui He, has invited U.S. officials to Beijing to continue ongoing trade negotiations, adding that he is "cautiously optimistic" about the possibility of a phase-one deal being reached. President Trump is expected to sign the recently passed congressional legislation supporting protesters in Hong Kong, renewing concerns that the bill could impede the ongoing trade talks between the U.S. and China. The S&P 500 is down -0.02%, the S&P 500 is down -0.02%, the Nasdaq is down -0.09%.

Precious metals are down this morning. Gold is down -3.88 at 1467.73 per ounce. Platinum is down -1.58 at 915.71 while silver is down -0.01 at 17.21. The dollar is mixed compared to the major currencies today. The greenback is down against the euro, up against the Yen and down against the Pound.
