Futures Lower Wednesday Morning

First Look

Futures are pointed lower Wednesday morning while the dollar is rising as White House does not expect another version of the Plaza Accord in which major economies reached an agreement to counter the strength of the dollar. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen also suggested there was minimal cause for concern in markets as their is high inflation in many countries with central banks reacting at different speeds. Meanwhile, shares of Thor Industries (THO) are higher this morning after surpassing earnings and revenue estimates as motorized RV sales remain strong. The Dow Jones is down -0.35%, the S&P is down -0.59%, the Nasdaq is down -1.02%.

Stocks in Asia are down. The Hang Seng is down -3.41%, the Shanghai SE Composite Index is down -1.58%, the Nikkei 225 is down -1.5% the Mumbai Sensex is down -0.89% and the Australia ASX All Ordinaries is down -0.55%.Stocks in Europe are down. The Euro Stoxx 50 is down -1.41%, the DAX is down -1.36%, the CAC 40 is down -1.27% and the FTSE 100 is down -0.84%.

Futures & Currencies

Energy futures are mixed today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is up 0.28 at 78.78 per barrel. Brent crude is up 0.11 at 86.38 per barrel. Natural Gas is down -0.14 at 6.51. Precious metals are down this morning. Gold is down -2.5 at 1626.4 per ounce. Platinum is down -7.5 at 843.38 while silver is down -0.26 at 18.08. The dollar is mixed compared to the major currencies today. The greenback is up against the euro, down against the Yen and up against the Pound. Bitcoin is down -6.56% to $18,927.12 while Ethereum is down -7% to $1,293.44.

Put/Call Ratio

Yesterday, 1,701,474 call contracts traded on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) compared to 1,592,198 put contracts. The single-session put/call ratio was 0.94.
