Futures Lower Thursday; Meta Shares Fall After Posting First-Ever Sales Decline

First Look

Futures are pointed lower Thursday. The second-quarter report this morning is expected to show 0.5% growth after falling 1.6% in the first quarter. Initial unemployment claims are projected to stay relatively flat at 253,000 claims, slightly above the previous week's 251,000. Meanwhile, shares of Meta Platforms (META) are down 4% this morning after missing on earnings estimates and reporting its first-ever sales decline along with forecasting a second straight quarter of declining sales. The Dow Jones is down -0.19%, the S&P is down -0.26%, the Nasdaq is down -0.64%.

In Europe stocks are mixed. The Euro Stoxx 50 is up 0.16%, the CAC 40 is up 0.11%, the DAX is down -0.07% and the FTSE 100 is down -0.11%.

Energy futures are mixed today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is up 0.4 at 99.66 per barrel. Brent crude is up 2.27 at 108.89 per barrel. Natural Gas is down -0.05 at 8.5. Precious metals are up this morning. Gold is up 4.86 at 1739.05 per ounce. Platinum is up 1.49 at 891.54 while silver is up 0.76 at 19.36. The dollar is mixed compared to the major currencies today. The greenback is up against the euro, down against the Yen and up against the Pound. Bitcoin is up 8.89% to $23,098.26 while Ethereum is up 13% to $1,638.44.

Put/Call Ratio

Yesterday, 1,267,218 call contracts traded on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) compared to 837,230 put contracts. The single-session put/call ratio was 0.66.
