Futures Lower Monday; China COVID Cases Hit New High Following Protests

Futures are pointed lower Monday morning. Chinese stocks are down following a weekend of protests over COVID-19 regulations with cases hitting a new high following the protests. Oil prices fell to their lowest level since last December with the developments in China clouding demand. Lastly, shares of Taboola.com (TBLA) are up 57.07% this morning after announcing a 30-year agreement with Yahoo in which Taboola will power native advertising on its platforms. The Dow Jones is down -0.56%, the Nasdaq is down -0.74%, the S&P is down -0.75%.

Energy futures are down today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is down -2.33 at 73.95 per barrel. Brent crude is down -2.69 at 80.94 per barrel. Natural Gas is down -0.42 at 6.6. Precious metals are mixed this morning. Gold is down -0.57 at 1754.36 per ounce. Platinum is up 11.27 at 994.83 while silver is down -0.03 at 21.58. The dollar is down compared to the major currencies today. The greenback is down against the euro, down against the Yen and down against the Pound. Bitcoin is down -2.26% to $16,190.29 while Ethereum is down -3.7% to $1,170.57.

Put/Call Ratio

Yesterday, 801,656 call contracts traded on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) compared to 610,720 put contracts. The single-session put/call ratio was 0.76.
