Futures Higher Tuesday; Walmart (WMT) Shares Higher Following Earnings Beat

First Look

Futures are pointed higher Tuesday morning. Shares of Walmart (WMT) are up 6.64% this morning following the retailer's earnings and revenue beat while raising its full-year net sales expectations and revealed a $20 billion share buyback plan. Walmart also forecasted a smaller fall in annual profits due to solid demand for groceries despite the higher prices and discounts on more cyclical goods such as clothing and electronics that attract more shoppers. Meanwhile, Tencent Music (TME) stock is 9% higher during premarket trading as the Chinese company surpassed earnings estimates with its paying users rising from 82.7 million in the second quarter to 85.3 million last quarter. The Nasdaq is up 1.5%, the S&P is up 0.97%, the Dow Jones is up 0.59%.

Energy futures are mixed today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is down -0.64 at 85.23 per barrel. Brent crude is down -0.53 at 92.61 per barrel. Natural Gas is up 0.05 at 5.98. Precious metals are mixed this morning. Gold is up 3.96 at 1775.36 per ounce. Platinum is up 6.62 at 1029.1 while silver is down -0.11 at 22. The dollar is down compared to the major currencies today. The greenback is down against the euro, down against the Yen and down against the Pound. Bitcoin is up 0.22% to $16,829.62 while Ethereum is up 0.28% to $1,265.52.

Put/Call Ratio

Yesterday, 2,082,716 call contracts traded on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) compared to 1,588,545 put contracts. The single-session put/call ratio was 0.76.
