Futures Higher Tuesday; Beijing Scraps Covid Testing Requirements for Most Public Venues

First Look

Futures are pointed slightly higher Tuesday morning with uncertainty around the pace of interest rate hikes going-forward. Money market futures suggest that the Federal Reserve will need to raise rates to a higher peak than previously expected. Meanwhile, China continues its moves to ease Covid policies with Beijing announcing it will scrap testing requirements for a majority of public venues. Lastly, shares of Signet Jewelers (SIG) are 4.43% higher this morning following the company's earnings and revenue beat along with raised full-year guidance. The Nasdaq is up 0.2%, the S&P is up 0.1%, the Dow Jones is up 0.08%.

Futures & Currencies

Energy futures are down today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is down -1.31 at 75.62 per barrel. Brent crude is down -1.36 at 81.32 per barrel. Natural Gas is down -0.11 at 5.46. Precious metals are up this morning. Gold is up 12.13 at 1780.81 per ounce. Platinum is up 0.37 at 1002.83 while silver is up 0.27 at 22.69. The dollar is down compared to the major currencies today. The greenback is down against the euro, down against the Yen and down against the Pound. Bitcoin is down -1.45% to $17,011.02 while Ethereum is down -2.5% to $1,258.70.

Put/Call Ratio

Yesterday, 1,465,151 call contracts traded on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) compared to 965,707 put contracts. The single-session put/call ratio was 0.66.
