Markets Mixed Friday; Core PPI Meets Estimates for 0.6% Rise in August

During trading Friday, 68 stocks traded to a 52-week high, while 26 stocks bottomed out at new 52-week lows. The S&P 500 is down 0.06% so far today while the Dow is down 0.13%, the Nasdaq is flat, and the Russell 2000 is up 0.06%.

Markets are mixed Friday afternoon after trading higher earlier in the day. Inflation data came in slightly higher than expected with Producer Price Index (PPI) rising 0.7% in August following July’s 1.0% increase. Meanwhile, core PPI rose 0.6%, meeting analysts estimates for the month. Kroger (KR) stock is down nearly 8% today despite raising full year earnings guidance and surpassing earnings and revenue projections for the quarter.
