Markets Fall Monday; ISM-Non Manufacturing Index Unexpectedly Rises

During trading Monday, 51 stocks traded to a 52-week high, while 48 stocks bottomed out at new 52-week lows. The S&P 500 is down 0.94% so far today while the Dow is down 0.79%, the Nasdaq is down 0.97%, and the Russell 2000 is down 1.46%.

Stocks are falling Monday afternoon following a surprise rise in the US services gauge from the ISM Non-Manufacturing Index jumping from 54.4% to 56.5% while analysts expected it to fall to 53.5% in November. The unexpected rise led to speculation that the Federal Reserve will maintain its tighter monetary policy to fight against inflationary pressures. Meanwhile, Tesla (TSLA) shares are down 6.77% following news that the EV manufacturer is planning to lower production at its Shanghai factory.
