Lows Outweigh Highs Monday: Ethereum Up Ahead of "Merger", STAAR Surgical Surges on Approval of Implant for Nearsightedness

During trading Monday, 56 stocks traded to a 52-week high, while 63 stocks bottomed out at new 52-week lows. The S&P 500 is down 0.22% so far today while the Dow is down 0.53%, the Nasdaq is up 0.1%, and the Russell 2000 is down 0.97%.

Stocks are mostly lower Monday afternoon. Cryptos are higher today as anticipation grows for the Ethereum "Merger", which will transition Ethereum to a Proof of Stake consensus method. Tesla Inc (TSLA) is up 7.95% after the company announced that it is seeking approval for another stock split from its shareholders. Meanwhile, STAAR Surgical Company (STAA) is up 8.88% after being granted FDA approval for its EVO/EVO+ Visian Implantable Collamer Lens. The implantable lens corrects myopia, or nearsightedness, the most common vision disorder globally.
