Financials, Industrials Lead New Highs as Bonds, Broad Indices Fall

During trading Thursday, 309 stocks traded to a 52-week high, while 1 stock bottomed out at new 52-week lows. The S&P 500 is down 2.07% so far today while the Dow is down 1.43% and the Nasdaq is down 2.87%.

Tech and Communication Services stocks are leading markets sharply lower today as Treasury yields hit a one-year high. GameStop (GME) is rallying again today as the retail investing community floods to the stock again. Meanwhile, economic data has been better-than-expect today. Initial Claims fell to 730,000 new jobless claims, much lower than consensus estimates for 820,000 claims. Additionally, Durable Goods Orders increased 3.4% in January after estimates called for an increase of 1.2%.
