106 Stocks Hit New 52-Week Highs; Core PCE Prices Rise 0.7% in April

During trading Friday, 106 stocks traded to a 52-week high, while 4 stocks bottomed out at new 52-week lows. The S&P 500 is up 0.28% so far today while the Dow is up 0.35%, the Nasdaq is up 0.35%, and the Russell 2000 is up 0.13%.

Stocks are higher Friday ahead of President Biden's $6 trillion budget announcement. Core PCE prices rose a little more than expected with a reading of 0.7% for April, after being projected to show a rise of 0.6%. Meanwhile, Personal Spending rose 0.5% in April after consensus estimates called for a rise of 0.4%, which is down far from the 4.7% growth experienced in March due to the stimulus checks.

Consumer Cyclical stocks dominated our list of highs today with 19 out of the 106 total stocks that reached their high coming from the Consumer Cyclical sector. The Consumer Cyclical sector is underperforming the market, increasing 0.13% so far on the day. Over the last month the Consumer Cyclical sector has underperformed the market, decreasing 3.36% while the S&P increased 0.32%.

Ulta Beuty (ULTA) is on highs after smashing earnings estimates yesterday afternoon, reporting profits of $4.10 per share on estimates for $1.96 per share. Meanwhile, Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF) is continuing its rise following Telsey Advisory Group's price target raise to $55 from $48.

Healthcare had the second largest presence on our 52-week highs, with 15 out of 106 highs coming from the Healthcare sector. The Healthcare sector is outperforming the market today, increasing 0.38% so far on the day. Over the last month the Healthcare sector has underperformed the market, decreasing 0.15% while the S&P increased 0.32%.

Innovalon (INOV) hit highs today after being initiated at Rober W. Baird as Outperform with a price target of $41. Joint Corp (JYNT) is continuing on highs after its Tuesday announcement that it will be included in the S&P SmallCap 600. Prothena (PRTA) is on highs after being initiated at Citigroup as a Buy with a price target of $39.
