Stocks are up in the pre-market Thursday as geopolitical tensions continue to rise. Two oil tankers were reportedly attacked early Thursday morning in the Gulf of Oman. While exact details of the attacks remain unclear, the allegedly targeted attacks took place in the same region off the coast of Iran where four ships were allegedly attacked last month. The U.S. Navy aided in assisting the tankers, adding additional tension between the U.S and Iran. Hong Kong remains in turmoil amid growing protests of the proposed extradition legislation. Police continue to use tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse protesters who have vowed to bring the city to a standstill. Boris Johnson, the former mayor of London and favorite to replace Theresa May as prime minister, is kicking off his campaign. Should Johnson replace May as prime minister, he is vowing to pull the United Kingdom from the European Union by October 31. The Nasdaq is up 0.47%, the S&P 500 is up 0.34%, the Dow Jones is up 0.31%.

Tyson Foods, Inc. (TSN), Marathon Oil Corporation (MRO) and Halliburton Company (HAL) are moving higher this morning, while Macy’s Inc (M), The Coca-Cola Co (KO) and Twitter Inc (TWTR) are headed lower. Dominion Energy Inc (D), Williams-Sonoma, Inc. (WSM) and Delphi Technologies PLC (DLPH) were upgraded by analysts this morning, while Union Pacific Corporation (UNP), Savara Inc (SVRA) and Marathon Oil Corporation (MRO) were downgraded.
Stocks in Asia are mixed. The Shanghai SE Composite Index is up 0.05%, the Mumbai Sensex is down -0.04%, the Hang Seng is down -0.05% the Australia ASX All Ordinaries is down -0.15% and the Nikkei 225 is down -0.46%. In Europe stocks are mixed. The DAX is up 0.49%, the Euro Stoxx 50 is up 0.17%, the FTSE 100 is up 0.16% and the CAC 40 is down -0.03%.

Energy futures are mixed today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is up 1.81 at 52.95 per barrel. Brent crude is up 2.21 at 62.18 per barrel. Natural Gas is down -0.02 at 2.37. Precious metals are up this morning. Gold is up 2.6 at 1336.18 per ounce. Platinum is up 1.38 at 812.32 while silver is up 0.05 at 14.8. The dollar is mixed compared to the major currencies today. The greenback is down against the euro, down against the Yen and up against the Pound.
Yesterday, 807,702 call contracts traded on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) compared to 618,660 put contracts. The single-session put/call was 0.77 while the 20-day moving average is now at 0.68.
