Morning Update: Stocks Point Higher

First Look

Major indices are up slightly in the pre-market Wednesday. European leadership is scheduled to meet at a summit in Brussels today to discuss an extension of Britain’s departure from the European Union. Leaders will debate whether to delay Brexit through the end of 2019 or to seek a 12-month delay extending through March 2020. Both extensions will force the U.K. to participate in upcoming European elections next month, which has been a source of dismay among Britain’s Conservative Party MPs and puts additional pressure on Prime Minister Theresa May. The S&P 500 is up 0.19%, the Nasdaq is up 0.17%, the Dow Jones is up 0.16%.
