U.S. stocks are steady ahead of the open Friday. Earnings season kicks off today, with several big banks reporting. JP Morgan’s (JPM) report was largely in line with expectations. The Nasdaq is up 0.04%, the Dow Jones is down -0.01%, the S&P 500 is down -0.04%.

Stocks on the Move

Ulta Beauty Inc (ULTA), Hess Corp. (HES) and KeyCorp (KEY) are moving higher this morning, while NetApp Inc. (NTAP), L Brands Inc (LB) and Incyte Corporation (INCY) are headed lower. ArcelorMittal SA (ADR) (MT), EQT Corporation (EQT) and HD Supply Holdings Inc (HDS) were upgraded by analysts this morning, while BHP Billiton Limited (ADR) (BHP), Avnet, Inc. (AVT) and F5 Networks, Inc. (FFIV) were downgraded.

International Markets

Stocks in Asia are mixed. The Australia ASX All Ordinaries is up 0.51%, the Hang Seng is up 0.16%, the Shanghai SE Composite Index is up 0.13% the Nikkei 225 is up 0.09% and the Mumbai Sensex is down -0.05%.In Europe stocks are mixed. The Euronext 100 is up 0.14%, the CAC 40 is up 0.1%, the DAX is up 0.02% and the FTSE 100 is down -0.26%.

Futures and Currencies

Energy futures are mixed today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is up 0.55 at 46.63 per barrel. Brent crude is up 0.53 at 48.95 per barrel. Natural Gas is down -0.01 at 2.96. Precious metals are up this morning. Gold is up 3.4 at 1220.7 per ounce. Platinum is up 4.64 at 910.4 while silver is up 0.04 at 15.73. The dollar is down compared to the major currencies today. The greenback is down against the euro, down against the Yen and down against the Pound.

Put/Call Ratio

Yesterday, 868,563 call contracts traded on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) compared to 541,563 put contracts. The single-session put/call was 0.62 while the 20-day moving average is now at 0.64.
