The Market Week Ahead: Sep. 9 – Sep. 13

Sep. 9, 2019 –  This week is, on paper, looks like it could be pretty quiet. Things have had a way of not shaping up that way recently though, so that’s not necessarily what we’re expecting.

It seems likely we’ll get some announcement about trade. Most likely we’ll get some announcement about trade talks with China. Best reasonable case is probably an announcement of dates for talks.

It is also possible we’ll get an announcement about new tariffs on European imports, which are said to include mainly agricultural products including cheese and wine. This may be met with retaliation by the Europeans, but what that would look like is a bit harder to guess.

With a light calendar, and the potential for not much news, technical factors such as those we mentioned on Friday could come into play this week.
