Week off to a slow start

U.S. markets are in negative territory Monday morning after finishing last week on a down note. The S&P 500 and the Dow are each down 0.13%.

 

Asian markets were mixed Monday as Hong Kong stocks continued their five-day rise. The Hang Seng was up 0.88% while the Mumbai Sensex was down 0.52%.In Europe, markets are mostly down today. The FTSE is down 0.02%, and the German DAX is down 0.31%.

 

Energy futures are down today. The West Texas Intermediate crude oil price per barrel is $101.73, down $0.36 and natural gas is down less than a penny. Metals prices are moving up today. Gold is up $2.20, and platinum is up $11.40. The Dollar is up versus the Euro and the Yen.


Family Dollar Stores Inc. (FDO), Dollar Tree, Inc. (DLTR), and First Solar, Inc. (FSLR), are up today. Walgreen Co. (WAG), Horizon Pharma, Inc. (HZNP), and Trulia, Inc. (TRLA) are down.
