Stocks rest after gains

Major indices are currently in the red this Wednesday morning, but they are very little changed. This follows a positive session on Tuesday, though not nearly as positive at the end of the day as it looked like it might be at the beginning. Oil prices are moving up, as are bond yields. Roku (ROKU) is up 4.3% this morning, while Fastenal (FAST) is down 4.75%.

West Texas Intermediate crude is trading at $50.93. At present, the S&P 500 is down 0.06%, the DJIA is down 0.01%, and the NASDAQ is down 0.04%.

Here are your Wednesday morning market metrics. Industries doing well today metals & mining, electric utilities, and multi-utilities. Industries showing weakness include trading companies, energy equipment, and textiles. The VIX is up 0.1% to 10.18 after closing on Tuesday at 10.08. The most heavily traded options this morning are for the PowerShares QQQ ETF (QQQ), with 13K December-15 117 puts on the board. The total put/call ratio as of 10:00 AM was 0.85 (308,212/260,550). The advancers/decliners ratio for NYSE stocks is 1,786/1,028, while the advancers/decliners ratio for NASDAQ stocks is 1,319/1,316.
