Stocks look for direction


U.S. stocks are flat this morning as a bond sell-off slowed. The S&P 500 is up 0.07%, while the Dow is down 0.03%.

Asian stocks finished mixed Tuesday as currencies in the region made gains. The Shanghai was down 0.11% and the Hang Seng was up 0.46%.

European stocks are mixed today following mixed economic data out of Germany. The FTSE is up 0.35%, while the DAX is down 0.13%.

Energy futures are rising today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is up $0.98 to $44.30 per barrel, while natural gas is up $0.04 to $2.98. Metals prices are down this morning. Gold is down $6.60 to $1,228.30 per ounce and platinum is up $13.70 to $947.30. The Dollar is down against the Euro and the Yen.

Hornbeck Offshore Services, Inc. (HOS), Advance Auto Parts Inc.   (AAP), and PetroQuest Energy Inc. (PQ) are early risers, while Amplify Snack Brands, Inc (BETR), Jones Energy, Inc. (JONE), and Seattle Genetics, Inc. (SGEN) are down. [InvestorsKeyhole, news and data sources]
