Ride on!

After the open… Stocks are mixed at present, with the S&P 500 off by 0.3%, but steep price declines in energy and metals continue to transform the investing landscape. Global issues persist, but economic indicators in the US, including very good employment numbers, provide hope for an extended rally.

Here are your Thursday morning market metrics. Industries doing well today Biotechnology, Airlines and Automobiles. Industries showing weakness include Communications Equipment, Electric Utilities and Multi-Utilities.

The VIX is up 3% to 14.62 after closing on Wednesday at 14.17. The most active option strike is for Newmont Mining (NEM) with 27,015 March 15 puts changing hands. The put-call volume ratio is 0.99, (273,220/271,376). NYSE Adv/Dec 1,437/1,407. Nasdaq Adv/Dec 1,228/1,018.
