Markets point to a stronger start.


U.S. stocks are rising today as earnings season gets started. The S&P 500 is up 0.80% and the Dow is up 0.77%.

In Asia, stocks finished mixed Tuesday as the interest rate on yuan-denominated overnight borrowing in Hong Kong rose 53 percentage points. The Shanghai Composite was up 0.20%, and the Nikkei was down 2.71%.

European stocks are higher today as a calmer Chinese market eased investors fears. The FTSE is up 0.06%, while the DAX is up 0.60%.   

Energy futures are lower today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is up $0.03 to $31.44 per barrel, while natural gas is down $0.04 to $2.35. Metals prices are down today. Gold is down $10.20 to $1,186.00 per ounce and platinum is down $10.40 to $835.90 an ounce. The Dollar is up versus the Euro and the Yen.

Kinder Morgan, Inc.(KMI), Fitbit Inc. (FIT), and SunEdison, Inc.  (SUNE) are early risers, while GW Pharmaceuticals plc(GWPH), Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. – Petrobras  (PBR) and Eldorado Gold Corporation(EGO) are down. [InvestorsKeyhole, news and data sources]
