Major indices are modestly higher at mid morning Tuesday. Stocks gapped up at the open, largely on the lack of further geopolitical or trade escalation, but haven’t gotten much traction since the trading floor opened.
At present, the S&P 500 is up 0.38%, the DJIA is up 0.66%, and the NASDAQ is up 0.38%.
Industries doing well today include Construction Materials, Electrical Equipment, and Machinery. Industries showing weakness include Beverages, Household Products, and Health Care Technology. The VIX is down 0.24 to 11.03 after closing yesterday at 11.27. The most heavily traded options this morning are for the Invesco QQQ Trust Series 1 ETF (QQQ), with 14,129 Sept 21 168 puts on the board. The total put/call ratio as of 10:00 AM was 0.61 (218,052/357,811). The advancers/decliners ratio for NYSE stocks is 1,797/1,038, while the advancers/decliners ratio for NASDAQ stocks is 1,803/1,032.
