Markets continue to climb


Stocks are modestly higher Friday, as major indices look to end a streak of several consecutive losing weeks.

At present, the S&P 500 is up 0.29%, the DJIA is up 0.44%, and the NASDAQ is up 0.12%.

Industries doing well today include Diversified Telecommunication Services, Air Freight & Logistics, and Specialty Retail. Industries showing weakness include Tobacco, Software, and Technology Hardware, Storage & Peripherals. The VIX is down 0.13 to 13.10 after closing yesterday at 13.23. The most heavily traded options this morning are for the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (EEM), with 63.128 June 15 49 calls on the board. The total put/call ratio as of 10:00 AM was 0.75 (278,541/370,360). The advancers/decliners ratio for NYSE stocks is 1,873/992, while the advancers/decliners ratio for NASDAQ stocks is 1,775/1,064.
