Election fears drive markets down


U.S. stocks are pointing lower today as a tightening in the U.S. presidential race weighs on global markets. The S&P 500 is down 0.07%, while the Dow is down 0.14%.

Asian stocks fell Wednesday after new polling on the U.S. election unsettled investors. The Nikkei was down  1.76% and the Shanghai fell 0.63%.

European stocks are down today with fears about the U.S. election also unsettling markets there. The FTSE is down 0.41%, while the DAX is down 0.76%.   

Energy futures are down. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is down $0.62 to $46.05 per barrel, while natural gas is down $0.11 to $2.78. Metals prices are mixed this morning. Gold is up $10.60 to $1,298.60 per ounce and platinum is down $7.30 to $990.60. The Dollar is down against the Euro and the Yen.
