Counting down the greatest stocks of all time (including the future!)

Greatest of all time

What is the best stock of all time? Ask 100 people and you are likely to get 100 answers. The question is open ended and deliberately so. For our purposes, we are looking for stocks with long track records, stocks that have weathered difficult times or bounced back after falling, and stocks which we have every reason to believe will continue to perform well for many years to come. Good dividends? Yes, that’s important. Annual return? Yes, that’s important. Length of record? Yes, that’s important too. There are so many possible qualifiers, in fact, that there are scores of plausible candidates. Though my initial goal was to cut them down to five, I found that impossible. Here then, are my magic six, the six stocks without any one of which this list would feel sadly incomplete.

As always, remember to treat these ideas as just that, ideas, and do your own research before making any investment decision.

A quick note – due to the capabilities of my annualized return calculator, I am providing time measurements in tenths of years. The wobble between these figures and the numbers that would be achieved measuring by the month or even by the day is very small.
