UnitedHealth Group Moves into Dow
What's Happening with UNH:
UnitedHealth Group (UNH) will replace Kraft Foods (KFT) in the Dow Jones Industrial Average later this month. S&P Dow Jones Indices, which manages the Dow, said that the change will take effect at the start of trading Monday September 24. It said the change reflected the growing importance of health care spending in the U.S. economy. S&P Dow Jones Indices said that the change was also prompted by Kraft's plan to spin off its North American grocery business in October. Kraft was added to the Dow in September 2008, when it replaced the crippled insurer AIG (AIG).

AMC Networks Gears Up for Courtroom Battle with Dish Network
What's Happening with AMCX:
AMC Networks and Dish network Corp are scheduled to meet in a courtroom Wednesday but many analysts believe the companies will reach a settlement before their dispute goes to trial. Dish dropped AMC's Voom suite of channels starting July 1, claiming low ratings did not justify the fees paid for the programming, but AMC claims Dish violated a long-term agreement to carry them and is suing for $2.5 billion. The satellite TV provider, which has 14 million subscribers, says it would prefer to negotiate only for the flagship channel AMC, which is home to popular shows such as "Breaking Bad" and "The Walking Dead." Dish would prefer to do without lesser-watched channels WE tv, IFC and Sundance Channel.

Allegheny Technologies Boosted by Fed's bond buying Move
What's Happening with ATI:
Allegheny Technologies continued a winning streak which started at the beginning of September. Investors have been inspired by the Federal Reserve's latest stimulus plan and materials companies that are components of the S&P 500 have seen their shares rise. The gains in the sector started mounting in recent sessions on growing expectations that the Fed would embrace another round of quantitative easing. The global economy remains on the edge of the abyss, but investors appear to be betting that central bank action will stoke higher infrastructure spending around the world. A tick up in the U.S. gross domestic product could spark demand for goods from China and the materials to manufacture those products.
