1) New Year’s Resolutions For A Balanced 2010 + Vic Wisemann’s Thoughts on: XL, F, WYN, FCX, PCLN, EBAY, AMZN, C, SUN, EK and AAPL

We made it through another holiday season without too much damage. The annual trek to the in-laws went off without much trouble, all the left over treats are finally disposed of and another wonderful season of college football has come to a close. All that remains is the partially completed, almost forgotten list of New Year's resolutions.

At this point, you have probably already blown away your New Year’s resolutions. I have only one to keep because I have broken the others already. My diet lasted until the cookies were done baking and my great new exercise program has been delayed because it is really too cold to run. My resolution to drink more red wine is the only one left.

All my resolutions, like everyone else's, were all made with good intentions but they are always hard to really live up to. I guess it’s the thought that counts.

But when it comes to your portfolio and your investing, not living up to your New Year’s resolutions could have negative effects for many years to come and be the difference between a secure future or a lifetime of making compromises.

Read on  to see how asset allocation can pump up your portfolio.
