Why Use Quantitative Rather than Broker Research? Wall Street does not give sell-recommendations. Of the roughly 28,000 current U.S. brokerage firm stock recommendations, 36% are "strong buys", 38% are "buys", 25% are "holds", while just 0.4% are "sells" and 0.2% are "strong sells", according to First Call data.
